Online Courses
"Dígame en español - Tell Me in Spanish program, offering Spanish I and Spanish II to both adults and home-school students on the high school level, is a virtual classroom setting via the internet. Weekly, the program offers
-- three 50-minute teacher directed lessons
-- two 35-minute web conferences with the instructor and fellow "classmates"
-- online tutoring service
-- based on a 36-week school year. Students may finish sooner by completing more classes per week
-- 185 hours of instruction with active teacher/student involvement
-- a textbook, workbook, a set of CDs, and online interactive games and puzzles, exercises, quizzes and
assessment tests
Upon completion of both course semesters, one Carnegie unit will be credited to the student's transcript. Two Carnegie units in one foreign language are required for high school graduation. When a home-schooler successfully completes Spanish I and Spanish II with this program, he/she will be credited two Carnegie units.
It is advantageous to the homeschool student to use this program for the following reasons:
-- Acquire one Carnegie Unit for each full year of Spanish ( two semesters).
-- The virtual classroom expands options for student learning.
-- Designed specifically for online delivery which allows learning to take place at any pace, any time, and any
where .
-- Both Spanish I and Spanish II are taught by "live" certified instructors who incorporate the state and
national objectives into the curriculum.
-- Upon completion of both courses with this program, the homeschool student will qualify to take the "clep"
exam for Spanish.
Spanish I
Spanish I is an all-inclusive study of the Spanish language and cultures. Upon completion, you will be able to speak, read, and write at a beginner's level. This two-semester course includes a textbook, workbook, a set of CDs as well as virtual instruction and web conferencing. Through the virtual class setting you will have access to audio presentations and practice through exercises and games, quizzes, and tests.
Students are awarded a certificate upon successful completion of Spanish I.
Spanish II -- Currently Under Construction
Spanish II is an all-inclusive study of the Spanish language and cultures. Upon completion you will be able to speak, read, and write at an intermediate level. This two semester course includes a textbook, workbook, a set of CDs as well as virtual instruction and web conferencing. Through the virtual class setting you will have access to audio presentations and practice through exercises and games, quizzes, and tests.
NOTE: Students enrolling in Spanish II who did not take Spanish I through this program will be required to take an Assessment Test before beginning the course. The test covers the state-mandated objectives for Spanish I. If unable to pass the test, placement recommendations will be made for Semester One or Semester Two of Spanish I. A fee of $30.00 is required for the assessment test.
